Jade

Stones of Jade have two distinctly different minerals==Nephrite, a calcium magnesium silicate, and Jadeite, a aluminum silicate. Nephrite crystals are fibrous or silky, where as Jadeite is made of interlocking blocky, sugar like granular crystals and Jadeite is just a little harder. Today both types of stones are traded as and called Jade. Fortunately both can be found in California.

Its other colors include emerald green colored by chromium, green, colored by iron, lilac, colored by magnesium and iron, and pink, brown, blue, red, black, yellow and orange. which are colored by other inclusions of minerals.
